In 2018, the WHO‘s Global Malaria Program carried out a comprehensive review of WHO’s malaria control development and dissemination processes. Their overarching goal is to provide timely and quality advice to malaria-endemic countries through more transparent, coherent, effective, and predictable processes. Based on the recommendations of the review, the Global Malaria Program will bring together a single Guideline Development Group (GDG) to ensure the consistency of the process and the development of all recommendations for malaria. Also, Ad hoc Evidence Review Groups (ERGs) may be convened to assist the GDG on specific topics. These changes in the structure of the Global Malaria Program Advisory Council should rationalize and standardize malaria control and elimination processes.
